We arrived in London in August and time has flown by
since. I cannot believe that it has
already be en five months. This new journey is adventurous, fun, and scary all at the same time. London is recognized as one of the greatest cities, filled with history, culture, liveliness, and I have to completely agree. Rob and I are LOVING every minute of it. We wanted to start this blog as a way to document and share all our adventures with family and friends.
I thought living in a major city, much less in another country, would be hard for me emotionally, but it has been one of the most exciting things that has ever happened to me. Rob and I have been talking about going to Europe since we started dating and 8 years later we’re finally here!
As you all know, the move was for Rob’s company, Beeline. He is helping start their new data center in Europe. I do not currently have a job, but will be looking for one soon. It is definitely a welcome change in pace from what I am used to, and I intend to take full advantage of every minute.
There were a few small hiccups when we first arrived, but all in all, everything went great! We waited to find a place to live until we arrived. It’s hard to decide where to live and pick a place based only on photos and google maps!!! Photos can be very deceiving, which we found out first hand, especially with those wide angle lens! Rob’s company put us up in a nice flat for a few months while we explored the city to find the perfect place. We fell in love with the area we first lived in, and tried our best to find our next flat relatively close. We soon realized it wasn’t the same as renting a place in Jax Beach. There is no “sleeping on it” and waiting to decide if it is the best place for you. If you are shown a flat, it’s expected that right then and there you’ll make a decision. It’s more than a little overwhelming being put on the spot like that, knowing that tomorrow this flat is going to, more than likely, be taken. It’s extra important to make a decision quickly as the nice flats get snatched up fast. There were times that a flat was posted online, and was already taken by the time we called only hours after posting! After a few let downs, we found our new flat. It’s small, and the design is a little strange, but we love it. It’s located in north central London in a great neighborhood near nice markets, pubs and restaurants. The borough we are in is Islington, which was the first borough in London. Being that it’s such an old area, there is no shortage of interesting architecture everywhere. It’s really a beautiful area. Below are a few photos of our new place.
Since the move we have already had a few adventures and have had our share of visitors. I will share more details and photos on the blog soon.
We are truly grateful to be given this opportunity. We can’t wait to see what God has in store for us and we look forward to sharing our journey with you. Thanks for following along.
Let 2015 and the adventures begin!
With Love,
The Fleming’s
